A Legacy of Dance, Passion & Tradition Every dancer has a story, and ours began with a dream to preserve and share the beauty of Indian dance. From humble beginnings to becoming Sydney’s premier Indian dance academy, Holiya’s journey is one of dedication, resilience, and unwavering passion.

Founded in 1991

The First StepAt just 6 years old, Hiral Dave took her first step into the world of dance. What started as a childhood passion soon became a lifelong devotion.

1997 – The Birth of Shivardana Hiral began teaching under the name Shivardana, creating a space where students could experience the joy and discipline of Indian dance.

Journey in 2004

A New Chapter in SydneyHiral moved to Sydney, Australia, bringing her love for dance to a new country. She continued her dance classes, sharing her knowledge and keeping her cultural roots alive through teaching.

Journey in 2014

Shivardana Becomes HoliyaWith the guidance of her Guru Chandan Thakore, Hiral was encouraged to pursue teaching professionally. Inspired by her Guru’s mother, Elakshi Thakore, and son, Chandan Thakore, she rebranded her academy as Holiya Dance Academy—a name that reflects festivity, culture, and tradition.

Journey in 2020

Dancing Through the PandemicDespite the challenges of COVID-19, Holiya adapted by conducting online classes alongside in-person sessions whenever possible. The academy continued to bring joy and connection to students through dance.

The Future of HoliyaHoliya is evolving into a traditional dance school, offering structured training from basic to advanced levels across multiple Indian dance styles. With a foundation of discipline, dedication, and devotion, Holiya aims to nurture the next generation of passionate dancers.
